Wolf cooking equipment · North Side Chicago

The range is in. Getting it working again is the job.

Burners that will not light, an oven forty degrees under its setpoint, a hood that lets the smoke into the room. We work on professional gas and dual-fuel cooking equipment across the North Side, and we quote the repair before anything is unbolted.

What repairs on this equipment tend to cost

Ranges, not estimates for your specific fault. The figure you are given on the visit is one number covering parts and labour, and you get it before anything is ordered.

Typical completed-repair ranges, parts and labour
Repair Range
Igniter or spark module $170 – $460
Burner valve or orifice service $250 – $560
Oven thermostat or sensor calibration $200 – $420
Convection fan or motor $280 – $670
Control board or touch panel $470 – $910
Door hinge, glass or seal $270 – $730

For scale: $7,980 – $18,780 is a comparable professional range, before installation and ventilation work.

Tell us what it is doing. We will tell you what it is.

One call gets the fault described, the model checked and a visit booked. The $89 service call covers the diagnosis and comes off the repair when you approve it.

On site 8:00 am – 8:00 pm, seven days. Dispatch answered 24/7. No contact form — the phone and the booking page are the two ways in.

What customers said

Reviews from the North Side run

4.9out of 5, from 717 reviews

  • One burner would light and then drop out as soon as the knob was released. He tested the flame sensing circuit, replaced the thermocouple, and checked all the others while he had it open.

    Marisa L. · Lincoln Park

  • All the sparkers were firing at once every time one knob turned. He explained why that happens, replaced the module, and stayed while I ran each position to be sure it was really fixed.

    Petra K. · Bucktown

  • Grease had found its way past the baffles and into the duct run through the masonry. He cleaned back as far as he could reach, showed me photographs of it, and refitted the baffles correctly.

    Clarissa Z. · Gold Coast

How the visit works

Three things you can hold us to

  • 01

One firm figure, before anything is ordered

Parts and labour in a single number, agreed while we are standing in your kitchen. Nothing is replaced on suspicion and nothing is ordered on a guess.

  • 02

The diagnosis is written down and left with you

Readings, what was tested, what was found and what was ruled out. It is yours whether or not you go ahead, and it is what a second opinion or a building manager actually needs.

  • 03

Dispatch answers, out of hours included

A fault found at midnight gets logged with the model and the address and slotted into the next working window. On site is 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, seven days — those are two different facts and we keep them apart.

Licensed, bonded and insured. We provide our licence number to customers on request.

Coverage

Four neighbourhoods on one North Side run

A tight territory is a scheduling decision, not modesty. These four sit close enough together that a morning call is usually seen the same afternoon.

  • A range set into a run of dark stained cabinets, one burner opened to its head and the oven door lowered on a cavity that still holds a single rack Lincoln Park 60614

Greystones and frame two-flats with kitchens carved into the back of the house, most of them gutted and rebuilt around a professional range that arrived after the cabinetry did.

  • A high angle across a range cooktop with one burner opened down to the brass orifice at the centre of its head, the oven door lowered below Lakeview 60657

Dense three-flats and courtyard buildings a few blocks off the lake. Shared risers, older gas service and a lot of hoods ducted through a long horizontal run before they ever reach outside air.

  • A six-knob professional range photographed square on, the oven door lowered on an empty cavity with rack rails and a round fan cover behind Gold Coast 60610

High-rise and townhouse kitchens where the appliance came up in a service elevator and the hood exhausts into a shaft the building controls rather than the owner.

  • A range with black control knobs against pale cabinets, the oven door lowered on a visibly used cavity and a spanner on a towel over the counter edge Bucktown 60647

Worker cottages raised over new lower levels, with the kitchen usually on the main floor and the range squeezed into a run that was laid out before anyone chose the appliance.

The work

Four things we are called out for

  1. A range with a flat griddle plate along one side of the cooktop, one burner opened to its head and the oven door lowered on an empty cavity, a rack set down on the floor

    01

    Range Repair

Dual-fuel and all-gas professional ranges taken as one appliance: burners, oven cavity and the control circuit that ties them together, including the faults that only appear when the whole thing is asked to work at once.

    • One burner lights from a match but will not light from its own spark
    • Clicking that carries on across the whole cooktop long after a burner has caught
What gets tested on the visit
  2. An oven cavity seen square on with the door lowered, the round convection fan cover centred on the rear wall between the rack rails, and a rack and spanner on a towel on the floor

    02

    Oven Repair

The cavity itself — thermostat and probe calibration, bake and broil circuits, convection motors, latches that never released after a self-clean, and doors that have stopped sealing along the top.

    • Everything browning on one side of the tray and staying pale on the other
    • Set to 350°F and the thermometer on the middle shelf never gets past 310°F
What gets tested on the visit
  3. Close view along a range control panel and its knob row, one cooktop burner opened to the head with its cap set down on the worktop beside it

    03

    Cooktop Repair

Sealed burners, spark modules, valves and orifices — the ignition and flame-quality work that starts at the burner head and ends at the gas valve, plus the flat-top and griddle surfaces beside them.

    • Flame lifting off the burner head or burning yellow instead of blue
    • Burner that lights but will not hold a low simmer without going out
What gets tested on the visit
  4. A wall-mounted range hood with its underside panel dropped open to show the blower housings and the squirrel-cage wheel inside, two baffle filters laid out on the counter below

    04

    Range Hood Repair

Wall canopies, inserts and island hoods — blower assemblies, speed controls, dampers and lighting, plus the duct-side problems that get blamed on a fan that is working perfectly well.

    • Smoke rolling out into the room while the blower is plainly running
    • Rattle or drone from the canopy that changes pitch with the speed setting
What gets tested on the visit

Before you book

Questions that come up on the phone

How quickly can somebody get out to the North Side?

Lincoln Park, Lakeview and Bucktown sit on one run, so a call placed in the morning is usually seen the same afternoon. The Gold Coast is scheduled around building access rather than distance — a loading dock and a service elevator booking take longer to arrange than the drive does. We would rather give you a first slot tomorrow that we keep than a window today that we do not.

One burner clicks but never lights. Is that the whole cooktop?

Almost never. A single burner that sparks without catching is usually its own igniter, a blocked port, or moisture that has got into the head after a spill or a clean. What points at something shared is the opposite pattern: every burner clicking together, or clicking that carries on long after a flame has established. That is the spark module or a switch stuck closed, and it is still a repair rather than a replacement.

My oven is set to 350 and a thermometer says 310. Is it broken?

It is out of calibration, which is not the same thing. Professional ovens cycle around a setpoint rather than sitting on it, so a reading taken at one moment tells you very little. We log the cavity across a full cycle at the middle shelf, and the answer is usually one of three: an offset that can be dialled back in, a probe that has drifted, or a door that stopped sealing along the top and is bleeding heat you never see.

The hood is running but the smoke still comes into the room.

Then the blower is rarely the problem. Start with the baffle filters, which choke long before anyone notices, and then with what the duct does after it leaves the canopy. Long horizontal runs, crushed flexible sections and dampers that no longer open properly all produce exactly this symptom with a fan that tests perfectly. In a condominium the run is often the building's, not yours, and we will tell you when that is what we have found.

The door locked during a self-clean and it has not released.

Do not force it. The latch is motor-driven and the control will not release it until the cavity has come down and the board is satisfied it has. If the cycle failed partway, the board can hold the lock indefinitely, and at that point it is a latch motor, a switch or the board — all serviceable. Prising at a locked door is how a repair turns into a door assembly.

What does the visit cost, and does it come off the repair?

The service call is $89 flat. It covers the visit and the full diagnosis, and it comes off the repair in full if you approve the work. You get one firm figure covering parts and labour before anything is ordered, opened further or replaced.

When do you work, and when is the phone answered?

On site 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, seven days. Dispatch is a separate line and is answered around the clock, so a fault found at midnight is logged with the model and the address and slotted into the next working window instead of sitting in a voicemail box until morning.

Do you work in condominium buildings with a shared exhaust?

Yes, and the constraint is usually the building rather than the appliance. Where a hood discharges into a shaft the association controls, we can service the canopy, the blower, the filters and the damper, and we can tell you which side of the wall the problem is on — but the shaft itself is the building's to open. Getting that answer in writing is often what unblocks the whole thing.
