Oven Repair
The cavity itself — thermostat and probe calibration, bake and broil circuits, convection motors, latches that never released after a self-clean, and doors that have stopped sealing along the top.
How it gets described on the phone
- Everything browning on one side of the tray and staying pale on the other
- Set to 350°F and the thermometer on the middle shelf never gets past 310°F
- Door locked since the self-clean cycle and the control will not release it
- Convection fan audible one minute and silent the next, with no change on the panel
What gets tested on the visit
- Cavity temperature logged at the middle shelf over a full cycle, never read off the display
- Bake and broil elements or burners drawn separately, so a half-working oven is caught
- Thermostat offset and probe resistance checked cold and hot
- Convection motor drawn under load, and the fan cover pulled to check the wheel
- Door seal compression, hinge tension and glass alignment along the whole top edge
The panel is not evidence. A probe goes on the middle shelf and stays there while the rest of the diagnosis happens, because a control reading a drifted sensor will keep displaying a perfectly plausible number for as long as you care to watch it. Uneven browning is the giveaway most people bring us, and it splits cleanly: side to side is airflow or a convection fault, front to back is nearly always the door.
